Call for Abstracts

The International USR Summit 2022 will be hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 16 to 18 November virtually. The Summit programme will focus on the theme of Education and Action for a Sustainable Future.

Summit Sub-Themes:

  • Assessing and Reinforcing USR Impacts
  • Collaborative Research to Address Global Challenges
  • Driving Institutional Changes for USR 
  • Education to Cultivate Social Responsibility
  • Elevating Sustainable Development through Regional and Global Collaboration
  • Social Innovation for Inclusive Communities 

Your abstract proposal will need to have a clear connection to the summit theme and your nominated sub-theme. A selection of contributions presented at the International USR Summit 2022 will be published in a Conference Proceeding. Presenter(s) of the selected presentations will be invited to submit papers. Further information will be available in due course.

Abstract Submission Deadline:30 September 2022 (extended to 9 October 2022)
Notification of Abstract Acceptance:21 October 2022
Summit Registration:July to October 2022
Note:
  • Ensuring quality reviews of all submissions remains our highest priority. There may be a short delay in our reviewing process.
  • All presenters must register for the Summit. Registration will be free of charge for all delegates.
  1. Abstract should include a title (20 word at maximum), a list of 5 keywords, and should not exceed 250 words.
  2. All abstracts must be submitted and, if accepted, presented in English.
  3. All abstracts must include the presenter’s and co-presenter(s)’ details, including full name, institution and country.
  4. For joint submission, the corresponding presenter is responsible for submitting the abstract, including co-presenter(s)’ bio statement(s), for the group; and for ensuring that all co-presenters have approved the submission.
  5. Please download and complete the Abstract Proposal Template for your submission.
  6. Kindly note all presentations will be video recorded and uploaded to the official conference portal to be shared after the Summit.
  7. Presentations will be assigned to one of the six parallel summit tracks according to the submit sub-themes. The purpose of the parallel summit tracks is to direct delegates towards the topics that most interest them. Please indicate in the proposal the track to which the presentation will be best suited

Presentation or Panel Session: Individual or group of up to three presenters. Please assign a moderator if you wish to propose a Panel Session.

  1. All abstracts will be subjected to the review of the USR Summit 2022 Organising Committee. They will be selected based on:
    • relevance to the summit theme and nominated sub-theme;
    • appropriateness and significance of the topic/issue;
    • reference to current theory, pedagogy and/or research;
    • coherent description of contents’ and organisation of submissions;
    • clarity of objectives, outcomes and implications;
    • originality and innovation; and
    • quality of the abstract.
  2. The review process usually takes around 2 weeks. The results would be notified via email.
  3. Review comments will be communicated to the corresponding presenter and the presenter may require to do necessary revisions and send the revised abstract on or before the prescribed day.
  4. The Summit Organising Committee reserves the right to edit the proposals.
